Everyone knows that spring is just around the corner when flyers for the St. Patrick School Car Show start to appear. The annual car show held on the grounds of our parish school has in just a few years become a fixture on the car show circuit. With great food, entertainment, shopping booths, games and activities for the kids, and cars… cars… cars… a day at the show has something to offer for everyone in the family, young and not so young!
In the past the show has hosted specialty cars and replicas such as NASCAR classic racers, vehicles from the large and small screen including Herbie the Love Bug, the 007 Lotus Esprit Submarine car, the Dukes of Hazzard General Lee, the Batmobile, the Back to the Future Delorean and more. There have also been amazing themed cars for the kid in all of us to enjoy based on the Munsters TV series, a street legal coffin car, the Ghost Busters Mobile, Scoobie-Doo and the Mystery Machine, and more. Other special classes such as Monster Trucks are also very popular with the crowds. Plus there are scores and scores of lovingly restored and customized cars in all classes. This is a show where the hard-core proffesional and the garage hobbyist can show off their talent and effort. This is a day of fun so there is no judging of the cars entered into the show.
Besides the cars, the St. Patrick School Car Show offers plenty of other entertainment. A favorite from year to year is “Stingray” Elvis. Other bands and performers never fail to please the enthusiastic crowds. Celebrities can also be found including stunt car drivers, actors from film and television, the “Ghostbusters”, Scoobie-Doo, Sponge Bob and more! A Food Court, special areas for kids to play, shopping and more. Don’t missout! Add this day to your family calendar.
Parishioner and St. Patrick School parent, John Florenza has been the leading force in developing and staging the car show. A true family effort, the Florenza’s and other dedicated volunteers pull off a virtual miracle of planning and organization as the show continues to grow from year to year.
